🌿 How to grow Aubergine from seed

What to do

  • Sow indoors between 2 - February and 5 - May or outdoors in 3 - March or 4 - April
  • Soak them in water for 24 hours before to help germination
  • Pop them on the surface of nice free draining moist soil and cover with around 5mm of vermiculite or compost
  • Put them in a propagator or plastic bag to keep them warm (18-21 degrees) until the seedlings come out – usually around 10-14 days
  • When the seedlings are big enough to handle transplant them to a slightly bigger pot at a slightly cooler temperature
  • For outdoors, when all risk of frost has passed harden off your aubergines and then put them in their final position around 90 cm apart
  • If you want to keep them indoors put them in a bigger pot or put two plants per grow bag
  • They love the sun and to be protected
  • Have fun!
